A long break..

Hi readers,

I haven't really been working out the past 8 days or so. My hand got a nasty bump, which meant I could barely use it for general day-to-day stuff, so decided to stand off the training for a bit. I should be back on track by tomorrow tho, the hand has been ok for two days.

I haven't even been able to bike since my rear tyre has punctured - guess no accident comes alone.

Anyway, just wanted to post an update so you knew I hadn't given up yet :P

Oh, almost a week..

.. As time flies!

Anyway, did a double-workout last sunday, since I didn't do the saturday one. It was hard, but surprisingly not impossible.

Getting back to biking to work has also helped on my legs, definitely. Today's workout was a leg-focused one, and even after that, I could still walk normally down the stairs - I couldn't do that after my first workout with Active 2 - can I really be seeing results that fast, or is it just random luck? :P

Either way, progress is happening, I'm drinking more water and eating more fruit as well as reducing the amount of junk I'm eating/drinking. Still need to get into a decent sleeping habit, but it's kinda hard when your hours change from day to day..

It's now officially 2011

Happy new year to everyone reading this.

According to my schedule, I'm supposed to do a workout today. I won't be able to though, the body's tired after last nights massive party. I don't feel too bad about it tho, I did a very tough bonus-workout friday before going to the party.

I think I'll need to change the days, saturday might be a bad idea generally, unless I stop partying, which is not likely, really. Anyway..

I hope everybody came safe and well into the new year. I'll be back on track with a workout scheduled for tomorrow as well - Don't worry, I'm not going to slow down and give up already!

Rest day!

Yesterday was a rest day according to the clever program. I got a feeling I'll get to really appreciate those in the next few weeks. I did end up biking 7km anyways tho, but at a relaxed pace so no real exercise in it.

My original plan was to do random stuff on rest days, but yesterday I kept having things to do, so I simply couldn't find the time. I don't really feel guilty about that since, well, it's a rest day after all, and I still need time to recharge the mental batteries as well, yeah?

Anyway, today's not a rest day - and I'm about to head off for work, so I'd better jog off and get ready.

All beginnings are hard

I got the game Active 2 for my Playstation 3 for Christmas, adding it to my wishlist as a signal to myself to shape up for 2011 and loose some of those extra pounds I've been carrying around for ages.

It's now Tuesday the 28th of December, and I've been actively training for 2 days, using the built-in 9-week program (4 days a week for 9 weeks). I plan to add a bit on the side on rest days, and to top it off, I'm biking to work whenever weather permits.

I don't plan to change my diet overly much, as I'm already eating relatively healthy (maybe I'll cut down a bit on the pizzas and burgers tho) and drinking primarily water.

Basically, I'm not actively changing every aspect of my life. I'm incorporating some exercise based on a computer game and adding a bit here and there when I feel like it.

Unfortunately, I do not own a weight - this is something I need to remedy soon, in order to keep up motivation I guess. Either way, exercise is never bad for you so I'll keep going regardless.


I have to say though. Niki, the virtual trainer keeping me under pressure in the game, she's a mean one. Granted, she's no Gny. Sgt. Hartman of Full Metal Jacket fame, but she's not going to let you relax either. I've tried Wii Fit before, and I can already now say there's a BIG difference. Wii Fit seems more to be fun stuff that's based on exercises, while Active 2 most certainly is pure exercise - no hula hoops or ski jumps here.

I also really like the fact that all programs are set up with both warm-up and cool-down exercises. As we all know, these things are very important to prevent injuries.

So far both the elastic and the motion sensors work perfectly - I haven't had problems yet at least. Granted, they're a bit annoying to wear, but you get used to wearing them surprisingly fast I think.
